Not like what you've seen before
I love prophecy, end of the world scenarios and ancient history which is why I was drawn to this movie, I even pre-ordered it before it went up for sale on amazon. I thought it would be a good documentary because of the producers who made it and some of the other things they have done but this movie it far better than what I expected. It's by no means a religious or Bible bias film and actually mentions very little about religion as so many other prophecy movies do. This film is the first I've seen that actually takes REAL archaeological and scientific evidence with experts from New York to Israel that discuss statistical probabilities and ancient records outside of the Bible. It's almost impossible to explain here in a review as this is a film you really have to see to believe! Let's just say this left me with a sense that you just witnessed a whole new sense of reality and really makes you reconsider everything in our world from the war on terror to the credibility of the some of...

Amazing from start to finish
If you actually know about history over the last 2,000 years as well as some basic theological studies, then you will be blown away from the information in this documentary. It truly does make the best argument I have ever heard to prove the notion that prophecy is derived from a divine source rather than the culmination of statistical chance as so many claim.

Four outstanding Native American documentaries
I was prompted to review these four outstanding documentaries on two discs simply to let people know what the discs contain. The first disc is 105 minutes long and deals with the Cherokee 'Trail of Tears' which I have already highly recommended (see my other reviews). The second disc has 'Black Indians: An American Story' (52 mins); 'Native American Healing in the 21st century' (52 minutes); and 'Our spirits Don't Speak English: Indian Boarding School' (53 minutes). All are essential viewing for students of Native American history and in particular that of the Cherokee Nation. All are historically accurate, informative and the discs are outstanding value.

trail of tears
Though I had read about the trail of tears (cherokee forced relocation to steal their very well developed farmland and homes), it was nice to see depicted on the screen the life style and changes this group had made to conform to the white invasion. They probably were too well off and brought on the never ending greed of the local whites. Very informative film and also entertaining.

Trail of Tears - A Native American Documentary Collection
Trail of Tears - A Native American Documentary Collection is a good account of what happened before and after Removal of American Indians so Southern Georgia could steal their farms and begin the plantations of Slavery in the American Soutland. The legacy of theft from one ethnic native by European Immigrants turned southern gentlemen so proud of their accomplishments. America should be proud and saddened that we have this in our proud history. I have some Cheorkee in my blood line, thus I felt the need to see what this view would give me to account for what has happened. I have other accounts that corrispond and support this version of history. So Sad.

Amazing organization, great video!!! A must see...
Canine Assistants is an organization based in Georgia. They match disabled individuals with a Service Dog to help mitigate the disability. This video follows a group of recipients during and after a "training camp." The recipients range from small children to adults. What is so right about this video is that it shows the ups and downs of owning a SD. Many people think that it must be easy and fun to have a SD, and this video shows that that is not always the case. Some of the match-ups are wonderful, and others don't work out. In each case Canine Assistants is there to help their recipients and dogs find the best possible resolution. This is a great video, and it is appealing to all audiences, whether you are disabled or not.

Great look at amazing dogs and people
This is an incredible look at service dogs, the people who train them, and the people they help. The bond between humans and dogs is incredible and this shows that taken to it's furthest levels. If you love dogs you'll love this movie, and if you train dogs this is a must-see.

First saw this show on public television. So many people do not understand the many roles service animals provide for persons with disabilities. A great learning tool.

Truly amazing!
The screening for this movie was held at my school this past year, and I have to say that it was absolutely phenomenal. The footage is so deep and real that it holds the potential to change the life of any viewer forever, as corny as that may sound. Seeing the good things that we often take advantage of and watching the horrors that happen around us that we are completely unaware of was shocking. The Human Experience is undoubtedly both a tear-jerker and an eye-opening experience. I would highly recommend that anyone and everyone should see this movie at one point in their lifetime. It will change your outlook on life dramatically, I guarantee it!

The Gift of Life Screams Out in "The Human Experience"
The award wining, independent documentary, "The Human Experience" by Clifford Azize, Jeffery Azize, Michael Campo, and Matthew Sanchez is a must see for the entire family. I had ordered a copy from Netflix on the basis of recommendation but with no knowledge about the film or its origins. I found it inspiring, fascinating, captivating, and rewarding. I plan to share this with my children and grandchildren as well as with a ministry I co-lead for those who are in-transition."The Human Experience" follows a group of young men (Azize brothers, Campo, and Sanchez) who meet at a half-way house in New York City and then travel around the world in search of answers to life's big questions - Why am I here? What is life? What is the meaning of it all? Their first foray takes them into the streets of NYC during the coldest week of the year to live with the homeless. They interview the homeless - "I am grateful, despite being homeless, for life."Their next adventure takes...

A Well Meaning And Heartfelt Documentary That Might Have Benefited From More Narrative Simplicity
I have no doubt that the independent documentary "The Human Experience" will be embraced by many as a heartfelt film experience. And why not? It is a sincere and well meaning journey that covers a number of interesting and relevant themes. The film's central message seems to be that we are all connected, no matter our condition or status in life, by the bond of simply being human. It's a great thought, if a fairly broad one. And while individual sequences within the film can be quite involving and moving, the film does get weighed down with a lack of focus. This is what I call "everything but the kitchen sink" filmmaking. They are so eager to cover as much as possible in as many different ways as possible, the film starts to lose the power of simplicity. This is a journey of self discovery, a sociological examination of relationships, and an anthropological study of various cultures--just to name a few of the many narrative threads. It's an intriguing film that, if anything,...

A must-see movie
This priceless documentary presents a devastating expose of the staggering Wall Street swindle that caused the economic meltdown of 2008. The interview with Martin Feldstein brought back to mind the hoopla of his appointment as chief economic adviser to President Reagan. The movie points out that Feldstein initiated the financial deregulation follies that led to the looting of the Savings and Loans and culminated with the passage of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, the lead sponsor of which was Senator Phil Gramm. It was truly depressing to see how this massive swindle was pulled off through the collusion of the economic advisers, politicians, high-flown professors of economics with scandalous and highly unethical conflicts-of-interest, investment banks, and ratings agencies. At the end of "Inside Job," Robert Gnaizda lists various groups that should be prosecuted. When asked why this has not been done, he answered: "It's a Wall Street government!"Some of...

Epic revelations about Wall Street; mandatory viewing
For anyone interested in knowing what caused the bottom to fall out of our financial sector and economy to the tune of trillions (shouldn't that be all of us?), Ferguson takes a complicated topic and spells it out in an intriguing, understandable and methodical way. We knew things were awry; but this really blows the lid off the deal. I don't think this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind...a billion-dollar cabal with club members including the upper echelons of Wall St, Washington and academia.Nice blend of Matt Damon's narration and the interviews. Definitely riveting...and troubling. Even distressing and disturbing for those who have suffered as a result of the financial collapse. Unlike many documentaries that conclude with some specific 'calls for action', "Inside Job" leave viewers awestruck and without a laundry list of what to do or who to call. In any case, very well done and highly recommended. Also, keep an eye on the large and impressive list of...

Great must-see documentary
Inside Job is a great documentary on an extremely important topic. It drags out a lot of hanky-panky dirty laundry and points out a lot of lies and stupidity -- and the tempers will flare of the ideologues who helped get us into the current economic crisis/mess, but so be it. It also can give the average intelligent person a foot in the door to understanding the world in which we live and the background for the financial crisis, that in my considered opinion is not yet over. In fact no end is in sight. Only the shape of the slippery slope is uncertain.I have looked into this quite a bit, and at first I thought it was going to be simply a super sort of Frontline documentary with great photography of Iceland American cities, etc. that integrated well with the interviews and narration.I think though, that in the end they did a very nice job and there was a freshness to bringing together even the many facts that have been published here and there over the last few...

Classroom response
As a high school IB Biology teacher I showed this video as part of a unit on the brain. Students were most taken with Case #1: Phanton Limb. I followed the case with two hands on exercises (from the teaching materials) that allow students to experience phantom sensations. I ended the lesson with a reading called "The Man Who Fell Out of Bed" from an Oliver Sachs book, followed by the online actvitiy "Probe the Brain" (PBS) which simulates the Penfield sensory motor cortex findings. A very stimulationg little lesson!

Interesting and Educational!
In "Secrets of the Mind" we gain insights through various tragedies that have affected others, thanks to the logic and insights of Professor Ramachandran regarding what he calls the most complex organized matter in the universe. The DVD begins with "phantom limb syndrome" - pain and sensation in missing body areas. Ramachandran's reasoning, confirmed through a CAT-scan, is that the brain has a map of various body areas, and that eg. the right arm and right face areas of the brain are adjacent. Thus, missing body areas can lead to interference by those associated brain areas trying to cope with stimulus deprivation - eg. "cross-wiring."However, we are still left with the problem of treating pain in a body-part that no longer exists. Dr. Ramachandran found that placing the remaining opposite body part (eg. hand) into a mirror-box fools the mind into receiving feedback from the missing part and no longer sending ever-increasing (and unmet) signals that cause the...

Engrossing
if you are the least bit curious on how the mind works and the infinite mysteries that it holds then this DVD is for you. Some of the fascinating things that scientists, psychologists and physcians have discovered about the inner workings of the brain is unfortunately the result of brain injured patients. These people are the subjects of this DVD. It concerns their weird symptomalogies after surviving a truamatic, mechanical head injury, all of them real interesting subject matters but ofcourse the star of the show is the charismatic and engaging, Dr Ramachandran. He's obviously very smart and the top of his field, Nueroscience but he also has the enthusiasm of a keen five year old boy. His best asset is his charm and the rare ability to transform his own fascination about the brain into an interesting and compelling subject for the average, lay viewer. The camera loves him and he knows how to engage the camera. He would make a personable science TV host. The subject matter is...
